The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie

In one of my all-time favourite reads – we follow six schoolgirls in Edinburgh over a number of years as they develop their relationship with their mentor and teacher, Miss Jean Brodie (teacher extraordinaire and manipulative fascist in her spare time).

A spine-tingling evocation of the power teachers yield and the damage that unexamined influence may exhibit over young minds.

Great for:

• Anyone looking for a shorter classic to read
• Lovers of manipulative characters
• Readers who like literary fiction and haven’t read this yet. It’s a must.

  1. I loved this book when I first read it, 34 years ago. Loved it even more when I reread it, 10 years later, and again some three years later. I reread it three months ago. Still love it…
